“Selectors have taken the right decision in dropping Bhuvneshwar Kumar because he is not performing. I am surprised why he is in T20s also. I think selectors have given him a new lease of life because when you are performing, then only you get a long rope. You need to perform if you are given a long rope,” Lal was quoted as saying by ANI.

Madan Lal said that he would like to see the selectors groom a young bowler like Avesh Khan after his performances in the IPL. Though he has been picked in the ODI side whether he will be given a game remains a question

“If you are not a match-winner for the team, then selectors will pick someone else like Avesh Khan as he has performed really well. He is a very talented youngster and I think selectors have done really right thing. It is up to him on how he performs now,” the former India allrounder explained.

Kuldeep Yadav has also made a return to the ODI squad. The BCCI has also included Ravi Bishnoi after his performances in The IPL for Punjab Kings. Bishnoi and Chahal are part of both squads while Kuldeep is back in the ODI squad. The thought behind including him was to pick wickets in the middle overs which he did at will with Chahal at the other end between 2017-2019.
