Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has said that the upcoming India vs West Indies T20I series is a great opportunity for Bhuvneshwar Kumar to get back his form and showcase his skills in the shortest format of the game. Bhuvi was considered for the T20I series and was not a part of the ODI squad for India.

He made a comeback into the Indian T20I squad in the T20 World Cup. Bhuvneshwar then was a part of the Indian ODI squad that played in South Africa. However, he had a forgetful outing in the series which is why he was dropped for the ODIs against West Indies.

With Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami rested for this series, Bhuvi is India’s seniormost bowler in the squad. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, and Mohammad Siraj are the other seamers who are part of the T20I squad.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik, while talking to Cricbuzz, said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar can take advantage of the conditions at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He is a natural swing bowler and the ball is expected to move under lights in the first few overs.

“Obviously everybody knows that he has not probably gone well as you would have liked him to in the previous series. So this is going to be a great opportunity for him to showcase his skills.

“It’s a good thing that in Kolkata the ball does tend to move. So, I think under lights he’ll be more than happy to swing the ball both ways and pick up a few early wickets,” said Karthik.

Bhuvi recently played a T20I in Kolkata against New Zealand. He had figures of 0-12 in two overs, the last time he bowled at Eden Gardens. He was unable to complete his quota of overs with the Kiwis were bowled out in less than 20 overs. Bhuvi will look to get over his iffy form and get back amongst the wickets in this series.
