IND vs WI: It's Certainly On My Mind To Get Them Back Together – Rohit Sharma On Spin Duo Of Yuzvendra Chahal And Kuldeep Yadav

Indian white-ball captain Rohit Sharma has said that bringing back the wrist spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the team together for the One Day International series against West Indies is certainly on his mind.

Kuldeep and Chahal played together for India for a very long time. However, since the 2019 World Cup, the duo has not played together on a regular basis. Overall they have played 36 ODIs together and picked 125 wickets between them.

Chahal has been a regular member of India’s white-ball setup but Kuldeep has been recalled for the first time in limited-overs cricket since July 2021. The main reason behind bringing back the wrist spin duo ‘Kul-Cha’ is to solve India’s struggle to pick wickets in the middle overs.

Meanwhile, the three-match One Day International series between India National Cricket Team and West Indies National Cricket Team will begin on February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and all the games of the series will be played at the same venue, behind closed doors.

Speaking to the press on the eve of the first ODI against Kieron Pollard-led West Indies, Rohit said that the wrist spinners Kuldeep and Chahal have been great performers for India in the past.

“Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been great performers for India in the past, they’ve created a great impact. They were left out due to different combinations we wanted, but it’s certainly on my mind to get them back together,” he said.

“We want to give Kuldeep time to settle in. He hasn’t played for a long time. It’s important to handle it carefully. He needs to play a lot of games to get his rhythm back,” he added.
