This was Rohit’s first international match since the last week of November. Notably, Rohit suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the South Africa tour and he got ruled out of the entire series and was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to gain match fitness.

Meanwhile, he made a sensational comeback in international cricket by smashing amazing 60 runs off 51 balls during the chase to help India win against Kieron Pollard-led side.

During his conversation with Star Sports, Ian Bishop hailed Rohit and said that he was amazed to see the Indian captain perform incredibly well after staying away from international cricket for a long period. He elaborated:

“It was typical of Rohit Sharma that we have seen of late. His timing was superb and balance very good. The only thing that we can say and what amazed me more was that the fact that he was out of active cricket for such a long period of time and to come back and play like that speaks to a player of the highest order. But really, watching him over the years, he is a superb player, one of the all-time greats in this format.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma-led India are leading by 1-0 in the three-match ODI series against West Indies and the second ODI will be played on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
