IND vs WI: We Are Slowly Building Towards The World Cup – West Indies Batter Rovman Powell

Explosive West Indies middle-order batsman Rovman Powell has said that the West Indies National Cricket Team are slowly and steadily building towards the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

West Indies have already lost the three-match T20 International series against Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team by losing the first match by 6 wickets and the second game by 8 runs at the same venue, which is Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Meanwhile, after the defeat in the second T20 International match, Rovman Powell said that the players have been improving with every series.

“If you look at the last series, and this series, there are a lot of areas we can identify that the guys have improved,” Powell said in the post-match media interaction.

“We are slowly building towards the World Cup and it’s important to keep improving series by series.”

Rovman Powell smashed brilliant 68 runs off 36 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. Also, he added a 100-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran in the second T20I.

Meanwhile, Powell said that the West Indies team have been slowly improving in T20I cricket.

“We’ve got partnerships going and if we keep doing that, we are going to win more than we lose. If you have been following West Indies T20 cricket, the guys are slowly improving,” Powell said.

While talking about the second T20I against India, Rovman Powell said that the Windies team didn’t field well, which was the reason behind their downfall.

“We didn’t field particularly well today. We could have saved another 15 runs and that was our downfall and the poor area,” Powell said.

Also, Powell lauded the Indian spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi for their good performance in the middle-overs.
