India and West Indies are set to play the second T20 international on Friday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India have taken a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the first T20I by 6 wickets. Spinners made life difficult for West Indies in the first innings.

Debutant Ravi Bishnoi troubled the West Indies batters with googlies and also sent Roston Chase (4 off 10) and Rovman Powell (2 off 3) back to the hut very early into their innings. Chahal picked the important wicket of Kyle Mayers (31 off 24), who was looking dangerous at the crease. West Indies, at one stage, had lost five wickets for 90 runs in 13.5 overs.

However, Nicholas Pooran held firm at one end and wreaked havoc with the bat in the last five overs of the innings. West Indies managed to score 61 runs in the final five overs of the innings, thanks to a solid partnership between Pooran and Kieron Pollard. Pooran got out after scoring a valuable knock of 61 runs in 43 deliveries, while Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 24 off 19.
As far as India’s bowling was concerned, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers. He returned with figures of 2 for 17 in 4 overs, while Harshal Patel picked 2 for 37 in his four overs. Yuzvendra Chahal too bowled well but his last over went for 17 runs. He finished with figures of 1 for 34 in 4 overs.
In response to that total, India made a rollicking start with the bat. Rohit Sharma wreaked havoc with the bat and helped India score 58 runs without a wicket in the first six overs. Rohit scored 40 runs in just 19 deliveries, before getting holed out at deep mid-wicket in the 8th over of the innings.

His partner, Ishan Kishan at the other end was struggling to play well against spinners. He used up 43 deliveries for 35 runs before getting out in the 12th over of the innings. Virat Kohli (17 off 13) and Rishabh Pant (8 off 8) also got out cheaply and India, who were cruising at one stage, looked in trouble at 114 for 4 in 14.3 overs.

India needed 32 runs in the last four overs but Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer ensured they chase it down quite comfortably with one over left in the innings.
Suryakumar Yadav continued his fine form as he scored an unbeaten 34-run knock off 18 deliveries, Venkatesh Iyer also supported him well and remained unbeaten on 24 off 13. The duo helped India reach the target in 18.5 overs and, thereby, win the game by 6 wickets.
