Rohit Sharma, who played a brilliant knock in the last game, got out cheaply in the next. Ishan Kishan continued to struggle as he failed to middle a single ball during his 10-ball stay at the crease. However, Virat Kohli looked positive right from the start of his innings and went on to compile a half-century.

Wickets, however, kept falling at regular intervals. Roston Chase ran through India’s middle-order and didn’t allow them to inject any momentum in the innings. He returned with figures of 3 for 25 in 4 overs.

However, Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer produced a brilliant partnership in the last five overs and guided the team to a formidable score of 186 runs in the end. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 52 off just 28 deliveries, while Venkatesh Iyer supported him brilliantly with another vital knock of 33 off 18.

West Indies, in pursuit of that, made a scratchy start. Yuzvendra Chahal was brought early in the power play and the openers struggled to get going against him. Brandon King (22 off 30) and Kyle Mayers (9 off 10) both failed to impress.

However, Nicholas Pooran, once again, played an outstanding knock and gave West Indies the best chance to chase down the score. He stitched a valuable 100-run partnership for the third wicket with Rovman Powell. Both the batsmen hit some sensational shots and took West Indies as close to the target as possible.

Nicholas Pooran, eventually, got out off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 19th over after scoring 62 off 41 balls. Needing 37 runs in the last three overs with 8 wickets in hands, West Indies would have backed themselves to win the game. However, Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar held their nerves and gave only 28 runs in the last three overs as West Indies fell 8 runs short of the target.

Nevertheless, Rovman Powell won hearts with his outstanding 62-run knock of 41 balls. Heading into the third and last game of the series, West Indies would look to end the tour with a win.
