The Indian cricket team has been eliminated from the Asia Cup due to a back-to-back defeat in the Super Four stage of the tournament.

Team India suffered a five-wicket loss to Pakistan and then a six-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka putting curtains to their hopes of qualifying for the final.

The defeat also meant that the selectors and team management still have to answer a few queries before they select the squad for this year’s T20 World Cup.

Team India went on with just three genuine pacers which was a bad move considering the UAE conditions.

Whether we look at the stats of IPL 2020, IPL 2021 or T20 World Cup 2021, the success ratio for pacers was way higher than for spinners.

Certainly, there were a few loopholes that could’ve been avoided by picking the correct squad as per the conditions.

Let’s look at three players who were missing from India’s Asia Cup squad and their presence could have made difference to the team’s position.

3 Unselected Indian Players Who Would Have Ensured India’s Win The Asia Cup 2022

1. Mohammed Shami

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, team India badly needed a genuine pacer who could get important wickets for the team.

Shami has got a knack of taking wickets and has done immensely well in the IPL for the past two years while getting 18 wickets in IPL 2022.

He was the key component of Gujarat Lion’s IPL victory as he took wickets for them at regular intervals.

Team India went on with just three pacers in the Asia Cup despite the conditions supporting pace bowling.

2. Kuldeep Yadav

Team India’s Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has often been ignored by the selectors for the past 2-3 years.

His left-arm leg-spin brings a completely different angle to the bowling department making him possibly the most aggressive option to consider in the XI.

He’s possibly got the most astonishing figures in the Indian bowling lineup getting 44 wickets in just 25 games at an economy rate of a mere 6.89.

The duo of Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal had asked some serious questions to opponents for a phase of 2-3 years till 2019. A combination that Team India should consider using once again.

3. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan has been the most sensational addition to India’s top order in the last 2 years.

He was the top run-scorer in the series against the Proteas earlier this year where he accumulated 206 runs in five innings.

Kishan’s addition as an opener makes sure that there’s no pressure on the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as he plays with a healthy strike rate right from the word go.

Ishan Kishan has also got a habit of scoring big when it’s his day due to which he was bought at a massive price of Rs. 15.25 crore by Mumbai Indians making him the most expensive buy of the auction.
