Asia Cup 2022: “Can’t Expect SKY & Other Middle-order Batters To Bail You Out” – Dodda Ganesh Slams India's Top-3 For “Lackadaisical Approach”

Former India National Cricket Team pacer Dodda Ganesh lashed out at the famed top-3 – Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli – of the India National Cricket Team for their lackadaisical batting approach in the first couple of games in the Asia Cup 2022.

India National Cricket Team have advanced to the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022 after defeating Pakistan and Hong Kong comprehensively. However, India’s top-order batting unit is still a concern heading into the Super 4s.

Rohit (12), Kohli (35) and Rahul (0) didn’t look comfortable against the Pakistan attack in India’s tournament opener. In India’s second match against Hong Kong, Rohit scored a 13-ball 21 and his opening partner Rahul scored a poor 36 runs off 39 balls. Also, former India captain Kohli scored good 59 runs off 44 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, former India National Cricket Team pacer Dodda Ganesh asserted that Team India can’t expect Suryakumar Yadav and other middle-order batters to bail them out every single time and the elephant in the room has to be addressed.

“Can’t expect SKY and the other middle-order batsmen to bail you out every time for the top three’s lackadaisical approach. High time the elephant in the room is addressed. This simply can’t continue,” he wrote on Twitter.

I am still worried about his fluency – Wasim Jaffer on Virat Kohli

Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Wasim Jaffer was also not entirely happy with Kohli’s performance against Hong Kong and he said that the fluency was still lacking in the former India captain’s batting.

“I am still worried about his fluency. That fluency is still not there which we have seen before. I don’t think we are witnessing fluency yet, even though he scored runs today,” said Jaffer on ESPNcricinfo.
