The 28-year-old India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya has said that the legendary India National Cricket Team skipper MS Dhoni has played a huge role in his growth. Star all-rounder Pandya has been in top-notch form since making his comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Recently in the Asia Cup 2022, he played a pivotal role in India’s victory over arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28.

The 28-year-old performed excellently and was adjusted Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He bagged 3 wickets for 25 runs and smashed 33 runs off 17 balls.

Meanwhile, Pandya said that as a new player in the scene he was just trying to learn new things about life and sport and Dhoni played a substantial role in his growth.

“I was just a new kid trying to learn new things about life and sport. MS Dhoni has played a big role in my growth. Whenever I got an opportunity, I used to observe him and learn things.

“The kind of mindset and knowledge he had, just observing it, it has reflected in my personality on the field,” said Pandya on Star Sports.

Pandya further said that learning from failures becomes very crucial to keep growing in life and career.

“It was about owning my mistakes, taking my chances, failing and learning from them. Sometimes, it is failures that teaches you, not your closest confide, not your aid and to a good extent even Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). Some failures, you just experience and you learn from them,” he added.

Hardik Pandya also said that the last four years of his life have been his most important and “it was a learning phase” for him.

“The way things shaped, I cannot put this all in words. It was a learning phase for me,” he added.

He further talked about the art of finishing and said that good finishing touch from the lower order or finisher is very crucial as without it the innings look incomplete.

“You might go to a restaurant, the food could be amazing but if there is no finishing touch, it does not add the charm to the dish no matter how it tastes.

“The look of it matters. It is similar in the game, no matter how close you come, how well-poised you are, how strong you are, when you do not get finishing touches from your lower order or finisher, it does not look complete,” he said.
