Reetinder Singh Sodhi has stated that the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 will be the most important tournament for Virat Kohli in a long time.
The 15-person team for the continental competition includes Kohli, who declined to go on Team India’s tours of the West Indies and Zimbabwe. Before the T20 World Cup later this year, the modern batting legend will want to put an end to his dry spell with the bat and dispel his critics.
The Asia Cup’s significance for Kohli was raised during a conversation on India News Sports, and Sodhi was questioned about it. He answered:
“It is quite significant. I believe that for many years, he would not have played in a more significant tournament than this one. We discuss the pressure since, despite being a renowned player, he has struggled with his form.”
Sodhi believes that for the Men in Blue to win the T20 World Cup, Kohli and Rohit Sharma must perform spectacularly at the plate. Explanation from the former Indian all-rounder:
“From the perspective of the Indian squad, we want Kohli to perform at his very best during the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are who we will rely on. If they both score runs, we have a good chance of winning the World Cup.”

Sodhi believes Kohli will do everything possible to perform well in the Asia Cup. He stated:
“I am confident that Virat Kohli will leave no stone unturned. He is working hard, sweating it out, because it is the only way out. Fingers crossed, we all hope to see Virat Kohli in top form in the Asia Cup.”
In the 2016 Asia Cup, which was played in Bangladesh, Kohli amassed 153 runs at an average of 76.50. Included in this were an unbroken half-century against Sri Lanka, as well as significant tries of forty against Pakistan in the league and Bangladesh in the championship.
