Asia Cup 2022 Will Be In UAE, As It Is The Only Place Where There Won't Be Rains: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly

On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly stated that the Asia Cup 2022 will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Asia Cup 2022 was set to be played in Sri Lanka. However, it has been shifted due to economic and political crises in the country.
On Wednesday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) told the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that they are not in a position to host the marquee tournament, Asia Cup T20, because of the economic and political crisis in the country.
Also, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to postpone the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to the ongoing crisis in the country.
Talking about the Asia Cup 2022, it is scheduled to be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament and it is all set to be played from August 27 to September 11.
Sourav Ganguly Confirms Asia Cup 2022 Will Be Shifted To UAE
After the Apex Council meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, revealed that the upcoming Asia Cup will be held in UAE.
“Asia Cup will be in UAE, as it is the only place where there won’t be rains,” Ganguly told reporters after the Board’s Apex Council meeting.
Meanwhile, the first edition of the Asia Cup was played in 1984 in the United Arab Emirates and India emerged as champions. The previous edition of the tournament was also held in the United Arab Emirates and India National Cricket Team won their 7th title. Also, Sri Lanka, the second most successful team, have won 5 titles and Pakistan have won 2 titles.
Notably, Asia Cup 2022 had been postponed twice, first in 2020 due to Covid-19 and then in 2021. The qualifiers for the Asia Cup, which will be a 20-over tournament, are expected to begin on August 20, 2022. Also, six teams will battle for the championship, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka, and one qualifier.
