IND vs PAK: Hardik Pandya Is Trying To Emulate From MS Dhoni Because He Is Someone He Really Looks Up To – Robin Uthappa

Veteran India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Uthappa has said that the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who delivered a match-winning performance for the Men In Blue in the high-profile Asia Cup 2022 game against Pakistan, is “trying to emulate from MS Dhoni because he is someone he really looks up to.”

The 28-year-old all-rounder, who failed to do well for Team India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 game against Pakistan, was at his absolute best in the Asia Cup game against the Men In Green and he made his presence felt in both the innings of the blockbuster match on Sunday, August 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Uthappa stated that he saw glimpses of the legendary India National Cricket Team captain MS Dhoni in Hardik Pandya during the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash. He said that there are several things that Hardik is trying to imbibe from Dhoni. He added that the World Cup-winning skipper has helped the star all-rounder grow as a cricketer over the years.

“Hardik is trying to emulate from MS because he is someone he really looks up to. You can see that there are things that he is trying to imbibe from him and they are really good friends as well, so you can see that rubbing off him on as well. There is a sense of assuredness in his game that is very Dhoni-esque in that sense, you know?” Uthappa was quoted as saying to ESPNcricinfo.

The 37-year-old also feels that Pandya, who is an IPL-winning captain, can definitely play a leadership role for India National Cricket Team in future.

“We can only as Indians hope that he grows more into this and owns that spot a lot more. I can definitely see him play a leadership role if he continues in the same vein,” he added.

Talking about the India-Pakistan Asia Cup match, Pandya won the Player of the Match award for his complete all-round performance. He bagged 3 wickets for 25 runs and while batting he smashed 33 runs off 17 balls. Pandya smashed a terrific six off Mohammad Nawaz’s delivery in the final over to help India win the match by 5 wickets.
