IND vs PAK: India Are Without Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami In Asia Cup 2022, They Are As Big As Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma – Harbhajan Singh

Former India National Cricket Team off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that the absence of star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in India’s Asia Cup 2022 squad is a massive setback for Rohit Sharma and Co.

Bumrah has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a back injury along with star pacer Harshal Patel, who sustained a rib injury. Also, veteran pace bowler Shami, who was in top-notch form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, was not included in the squad for the multi-nation tournament.

Notably, Shami, who last played a T20I game for India against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2021, is no longer in India’s scheme of things in the T20I format.

Speaking on Sports Today, former India spinner Harbhajan said that the star pacers Bumrah and Shami are as big as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India’s playing XI.

“India are without their two big guns, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. They are as big as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Imagine those two not playing. The same goes with Bumrah and Shami not playing,” Harbhajan said on Sports Today.

“When the ball isn’t swinging, it becomes even more important for bowlers to get their line and lengths right. If the conditions aren’t favourable, you need to alter your game accordingly. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is someone who swings the ball both ways. But these conditions won’t allow him to swing the ball.

“The line and length will be critical and you can’t afford to give batters room. It’s great if you find swing, but if not, you’ll have to pull the length back and stick to it,” said Harbhajan.
