KL Rahul’s performance in the lead-up to the Asia Cup 2022 is not a major issue for Saba Karim, who anticipates that the Indian vice-captain will soon return to form.

From August 27 to September 11, the Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates. After a couple of mediocre showings in the just finished ODI series against Zimbabwe, Rahul enters the competition. In his batting against the Chevrons, he also lacked fluidity.

Karim was questioned on whether India should be concerned about Rahul’s form during an interview on the Sports 18 program “Sports Over the Top.” He gave a critical response, saying:

“Concerning KL Rahul’s current form, I would not be overly concerned. He would have wanted to complete more races, but considering his pedigree, I do anticipate him to swiftly regain his form.”

“He was making an effort to settle in. His last removal, an inside edge onto the wickets, was such a soft or unfortunate dismissal. Before the Asia Cup begins, maybe three or four centre-wicket sessions in Dubai may help him regain his best form.”

Scott Styris analyzes KL Rahul’s form ahead of the Asia Cup:

Scott Styris, who was also on the panel, agreed with Karim, stating:

“I would not worry either. I would be concerned if he just faced five or ten balls in each innings, but the last one in especially, 46 deliveries, if that is the case, suggests that time in the middle is approaching, and he will grow more and more fluent.”

In the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Rahul amassed 31 runs throughout two innings. Despite scoring 30 runs in the game’s last innings, he was not at his best and was dismissed just as he was beginning to attack the opposing bowlers.
