Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman and chairman of the national selection committee, Kiran More, has said that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik should definitely be a part of Team India’s playing XI in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.
The Asia Cup 2022, which is the 15th edition of the tournament, is scheduled to be played from August 27 to September 11. The entire tournament is set to be held in United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the hosts Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in the opening clash.

In their tournament opener, Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are set to lock horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Stadium, on Sunday, August 28.
Also, the 37-year-old Dinesh Karthik, who got his India recall after an outstanding performance for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has been included in India’s Asia Cup squad.
With star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant also part of the team it is highly unlikely that Karthik would be picked in the playing XI for the Asia Cup.

Former India National Cricket Team player More backed Karthik’s selection in the playing XI, saying that the 37-year-old has performed well whenever he got an opportunity. He added that Karthik’s “selection is not only a headache but a good ache”.
“Dinesh Karthik, I will definitely get him into the playing XI, Anyhow. With his age, the selectors have got him back into the team. It’s going to be tough to make a call on him.
“Look at his fitness, and he has performed. Dinesh has done well and he deserves to be in the playing XI. He has finished matches for India. His selection is not only a headache, but a good ache,’’ said More, as quoted by News18.
