'Pakistan Ne Apne Pair Par Khud Kulhadi Maari Hai'- Danish Kaneria Slams PCB And Pakistan Management For Ignoring Shaheen Shah Afridi's Workload

Former Pakistan spinner, Danish Kaneria, has lashed out at PCB and Pakistan team management for not taking adequate care of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s ace pace bowler, who has now been ruled out of Asia Cup 2022.

In what comes as a massive blow to Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 and the following England series due to a knee injury as informed by the PCB. Mohammad Hasnain has been roped in as a replacement for Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Shaheen was out injured after the first Test played against Sri Lanka last month but reports suggest that he had been nursing injury since Australia toured Pakistan a couple of months ago. Stats also depict that he is the most used pacer for Pakistan across formats in the last year and now, several former cricketers have come out lashing at PCB and Pakistan team management.

Speaking exclusively to Cricketaddictor, Danish Kaneria said, “Shaheen Shah Afridi has been a star performer for Pakistan and he topped the ICC Rankings too. I suggested many times that Shaheen must be rested at regular intervals because Pakistan has only one bowler who can take wickets and win you games. We saw how he demolished the Indian top order in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and turned the tide in Pakistan’s favour.”

“This is a massive blow for Pakistan and Shaheen was on the borderline of being injured. PCB and team management overloaded him with all the formats so he had to break down at some point. Pakistan has itself put its Foot on the Axe playing Shaheen so much.

“Now that Pakistan toured the Netherlands, there was no need for him to board the flight for the tour. If PCB had worked on getting good coaches and doctors in the Pakistan National Cricket Academy, he should have been there.”
