Revealed: Why Jasprit Bumrah & Harshal Patel Are Not Included In India's Squad For Asia Cup 2022

Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have been excluded from the Indian team’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the end of this month.

The duo has failed to recover from injuries and will be taking more time off at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation purposes.

While Bumrah has a back injury, something he had suffered in the initial stages of his career, Harshal picked up a side strain during the tour of West Indies and ended up missing the entire T20I series.

“Notes – Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru. Three players – Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar have been named as standbys,” the BCCI said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli returns to the setup after taking a break from the Caribbean tour. Alongside him, KL Rahul will be making a comeback following a long injury layoff.

The Karnataka batter underwent groin surgery before contracting covid just days away from the Windies tour. He is expected to open the innings with Suryakumar Yadav set to return to his usual No. 4 slot.
