Twitter Reacts As Sri Lanka Stun India To Win Second Consecutive Game In Asia Cup 2022 Super 4s

The 3rd match of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 stage was played between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, September 6.

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team defeated India National Cricket Team by 6 wickets to get one step closer to securing a spot in the final of the tournament. This was the 7th match in the ongoing Asia Cup that has been won by the team chasing the target.

Earlier, Sri Lanka National Cricket Team continued the ‘win the toss and bowl first’ tradition in the tournament and asked India National Cricket Team to bat first in the match.

The Lankan Team made no changes to the playing XI. On the other hand, the Men In Blue made one change as veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin replaced young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the playing XI.

Batting first, Team India were off to an awful start and the attacking brand of cricket was nowhere to be seen. KL Rahul failed once again and scored just 6 runs before getting dismissed in the second over. Virat Kohli, who was heading into the match with a lot of momentum on his side, got out for a 4-ball duck in the third over of the innings.

However, captain Rohit Sharma and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav helped India make an astonishing comeback in the match. They added 97 runs in 58 balls before Rohit Sharma got dismissed in the 13th over. The 35-year-old played a fantastic knock of 72 runs off 41 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes.

After the wicket of Rohit, India lost wickets at regular intervals and in the end, Ravichandran Ashwin’s 15 runs cameo helped India post 173/8 on the board.

Chasing the target, Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka provided Sri Lanka with an absolutely sensational start and they added 97 runs together.

Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal helped India make a comeback in the match by picking the big wickets of Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Pathum Nissanka. Soon Ravichandran Ashwin also dismissed Danushka Gunathilaka.

In the end, Dasun Shanaka (33) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25) played terrific innings against the Indian bowlers, who were struggling in the match, and chased down the target in the 20th over.
