IND vs PAK: I Have No Favourites - Sourav Ganguly On India vs Pakistan Game In Asia Cup 2023

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly opened up about the upcoming India vs Pakistan game in the Asia Cup 2023. He said that there are no favourites for him as the team who plays well will win the game. 

We are just less than 10 days away from the biggest clash in the history of the game. India and Pakistan will be up against each other on 2nd September in Kandy in Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 clash. This will be the first time both of them will face each other since the T20 World Cup 2022. 

There are high chance that we might see India and Pakistan playing each other three times in the Asia Cup 2023. After the group stage, it is expected that they will be up against each other in Super 4 because the third team in their group is Nepal. They can also be up against each other in the final as well. 

Sourav Ganguly was asked about the favourites to win the India vs Pakistan clash, replying to which he said both teams are good and whosoever will play well will win.

Speaking to reporters, he explained: “Both India and Pakistan are good cricket teams. The team that plays well will win. I have no favourites…” 

India will be playing the full-strength squad as their premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also back after a long injury. Apart from him, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer too are also back in the team. They also have picked three spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, who can bat as well. 

Sourav Ganguly feels that Jasprit Bumrah will get better with time and India has done well by picking Axar Patel. He added: 

“With time his (Jasprit Bumrah) fitness will get better….You can only have three spinners and I think they have done the right thing by picking Axar (Patel), he can bat.”
