IND vs AUS: Aaron Finch Becomes 1st Captain To Score 2000 T20I Runs

Australia 20-over captain Aaron Finch became the first skipper to make 2000 runs in T20I format as his side clashed with India in the second T20I, which is being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur on September 23, 2022.
The match was delayed for a long time due to the wet outfield situation keeping the crowd and the fans watching on media on their toes about whether the match will even happen or not. But finally, after three inspections, umpires decided to have a 8 overs-per-side encounter, giving the crowd on the ground who waited for a long time, something to cheer.
Australia batted first after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field. India made two changes, as Rishabh Pant come in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah came in for Umesh Yadav. Australia also made some changes with Sean Abbott and Daniel Sams coming into the side.

Captain Aaron Finch gave his team a flying start, scoring 9 runs in the first over itself, hitting Hardik Pandya for two fours. Then Axar Patel turned the tide a bit with 2/13 in his 2 overs and Cameron Green getting run out for 5 runs. Axar removed Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck and Tim David for just 2 runs.
However, Finch continued to hammer the Indian bowlers, hitting Yuzvendra Chahal for a huge six and then the returning Jasprit Bumrah for a four. But then Bumrah had the last laugh, as his quick yorker dismissed the Australian captain for 31 runs in 15 balls.
During his knock, Finch became the first captain in T20I history to make 2,000 runs in the format. He got to it with a gorgeous cover drive for a four off Hardik Pandya in the first over of Australia’s innings.
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, and India’s Virat Kohli are second, third, and fourth on the list respectively.
