India pulled off a win in the 2nd T20I in Nagpur to level terms in the three-match series after losing the opening fixture. Reduced to 8 overs due to rain, Rohit Sharma played a captain’s knock scoring a quickfire 46 runs off 20 deliveries to ensure a win for the Men in Blue.

Echoing on the same lines, opponent skipper Aaron Finch heaped praises on the Indian captain and also gave plaudits to Axar Patel for his brilliant spell.

Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Aaron Finch said, “You probably plan for a 5 over game and then a bit more to it. Rohit played brilliantly and two overs of Axar made the difference. Wade is a calm customer at the back end and he has grown into that finisher’s role. Zampa was good too.”

Rohit Sharma became the batter with the most sixes in T20Is. The 34-year-old accomplished the milestone in India’s second T20I against Australia at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.The 34-year-old went past New Zealand’s Martin Guptill to become the leading six-hitter in the shortest format of international cricket. Prior to the second T20I, the Nagpur-born Rohit was level with Guptill on 172 sixes.

Match Highlights

Rohit Sharma batted in his own world while wickets fell around him. Matthew Wade’s 43 off 20 balls led Australia to a score of 90/5 in a match that was reduced to an eight overs a side contest due to a two-hour delay caused by a wet outfield.

Rohit responded by scoring an unbeaten 46 off 20 balls and leading the Indian chase with brief cameos from KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. Dinesh Karthik finished the match by hitting a six and a four off the first two balls of the last over, which were the only ones he faced in the entire match. The three-match series is now level 1-1.
