Suryakumar Yadav stood up for Harshal Patel stating that is unfair to write off the pacer after just one poor outing in the series opener against Australia. SKY further added that Harshal Patel deserves to be cut some slack after having returned from a long injury layoff.

Harshal was taken to the cleaners as he leaked 49 runs in his allotted 4 overs against Australia. Harshal wasn’t the only one who was expensive as Australia batters smashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya as the Aussies successfully chased down a towering 209-run target.

Suryakumar Yadav gives plaudits to Harshal Patel for his plethora of variations

The Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer struggled to find his rhythm, giving away 22 runs in the 18th over. Harshal had returned to the XI after recovering from a rib injury that threatened his chances of playing in the T20 World Cup, later this year.

Speaking to the press on the eve of the 2nd T20I in Nagpur, Suryakumar Yadav told, “Thoda injury se aaya hai, itna toh benefit banta hai (Cut him some slack, he is coming back after the injury).”

Suryakumar also talked up Harshal’s variations, saying his slower ball is quite difficult to read even in the nets. “It is difficult to read Harshal’s slower ball and variations. Whatever I have faced him in the nets, I can assure you guys that he is not predictable at all. He is very deceptive. He has been working really hard on his bowling,” he added.
