IND vs AUS: “Ishan Kishan More Suitable As Ideal Replacement For Rishabh Pant”- Saba Karim

Indian Cricket Team’s Stellar Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is most likely to be ruled out for Australia Tests scheduled in February. The batter had a horrifying accident on 30th December (Friday) in his Mercedes SUV as he was heading back to his hometown Roorkee.
Australia is about to play a Test Series in India after 2017 where they lost the Test Series by 1-2 after being 1-0 up. The senior batters Smith & Warner will have to lead the team from the front and make sure that they guide the rest of the batting unit which is quite inexperienced in sub-continental conditions.

Saba Karim on Rishabh Pant
Saba Karim was having an interaction with India News and was asked about which player will replace Pant for Australia Tests. “I agree that KS Bharat is being groomed for the Test keeping role. But with all due respect to him, I feel Ishan Kishan is more suitable as an ideal replacement for Pant, considering the kind of role that Pant was playing in the Test team. He is playing the Ranji Trophy and has scored a hundred at quick pace.” said Saba Karim.

“We were winning Tests due to Pant’s presence because not only was he playing match-winning knocks, but was doing them at a quick pace. This was transferring pressure on the opposition, while also giving bowlers time to take 20 wickets. Kishan hasn’t played red-ball cricket for India A, but he has been playing domestic red-ball cricket for a few years.” he added.
Conundrum for Management
Finding a like for like replacement of Rishabh Pant would be quite difficult for the management & selection panel. KS Bharat has been piling on runs in domestic circuit but he is not an aggressive batter like Pant. The problem with Ishan Kishan as stated by Saba Karim is that the batter hasn’t played that red ball cricket.
It won’t be wrong to say that Rishabh Pant has been the ‘X’ factor for team India. He has played dominating knocks and surprised the opposition with his swift stroke-play. The selection panel may go back and bring back Wriddhiman Saha as he is immensely experienced.
