In an Instagram post, Sarfaraz claimed that among batsmen who have played at least 50 innings, his first-class average is second only to the illustrious Don Bradman. The batter has recently been in excellent form and is in the top spot in the Ranji Trophy ratings. However, after Ishan Kishan’s incredible double century against Bangladesh in the ODI format, India chose to grant him his first call-up for a Test match.

Sarfaraz has been in excellent form throughout the current Ranji Trophy season, scoring 2 hundred and a half centuries in 5 games. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, teammates of Sarfaraz, have been called up for the T20I and Test squads, respectively.
