IND vs AUS: Watch- Virat Kohli Caught Plumb By Todd Murphy After Being Settled On The Pitch Once Again

Australian spinner Todd Murphy has picked Virat Kohli for the third time in this Test series. After picking Kohli once each in Nagpur and Delhi, Murphy accounted for Kohli’s wicket in the first innings of the third Test in Indore. The former Indian skipper was the sixth Indian wicket to fall inside the first session on day 1.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first in Indore. After an initial burst from the Australian seamers, Steve Smith brought in Matthew Kuhnemann in the sixth over of the Indian innings. He picked up two wickets in his first two overs starting the slide for India.

India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma on 27 and since then the Men in Blue have lost wickets at regular intervals. Wickets have gone down on 34, 36, 44, 45, and 70. India lost the wicket of Shreyas Iyer (0) with India on 45. From there on, Kohli (22) along with Srikar Bharat added 25 runs for the sixth wicket. They looked quite assured against the Australian spinners playing the ball on its merit.

They took a little time to settle on the pitch before, Murphy bowling around the wicket managed to bowl in the ball within the stumps. Virat Kohli played across the line looking to play the ball onto the onside and missing it completely. The ball hit Kohli’s pads and umpire Joel Wilson ruled him out.

After consulting with Bharat for a while Kohli took the review. The television replays showed the ball was straight enough to hit the stumps and the DRS referral from Kohli was turned down. Yet again, The former Indian skipper after looking settled at the wicket has lost his wicket to a spinner. As said earlier this was the third time Mur[phy dismissed Kohli in this Test series so far.

Since 2020, he has scored very slowly as compared to the time before that. Kohli scored just 116 runs in three matches at an average of 19.33 with one fifty in six innings in 2020. In 2021, his numbers read a bit better but still without a century, scoring 536 runs in 11 matches at an average of 28.21 with four fifties in 19 innings. In 2022, the former Indian skipper scored 265 in six matches at an average of 26.50 with one fifty in 11 innings.
