The much-anticipated four-match Test Border Gavaskar series between India and Australia will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, from Thursday, February 9. Josh Hazlewood said that Australia will try to win a series in India, as it has been a long time since they have done so.
The Australians last won a Test series in India in 2004, when they won the four-match series 2-1. They won the first Test series in Pune during their last tour of India in 2017 but lost the series 2-1. Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led team hasn’t lost a Test series at home in the last ten years.

We Will Try Winning In India – Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood said that they had good chances to win the series on Indian soil last time, but they failed to grab the opportunity.
“It’s probably the last thing to think of…winning a series in England and winning a series in India…we won a testament last time we had good chances to win the series but didn’t quite grab them. It’s probably been longer since Australia won there and less frequently they have won there. In world cricket, that’s how runs go…we will try winning in India,” Josh Hazlewood said.

Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the first Test due to a left Achilles niggle, and Scott Boland is expected to make his overseas Test debut. Boland made his Ashes debut in 2021-22 and took 28 wickets with a bowling average of 12.21 and best figures of 6/7 in an inning.
Australia, the No. 1 ranked Test team, have dominated the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and is in first place in the points table. Meanwhile, India will play their final series, which they must win by a two-match margin in order to qualify for the WTC final for the second time.
