Indian Star Shikhar Dhawan Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Ex-Wife

Team India’s star batter Shikhar Dhawan has filed a defamation lawsuit in the Patiala Court against his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji claiming that his former partner has made multiple attempts to harm his image and reputation in recent months.

According to the reports emerging from the media, it seems like Shikhar Dhawan’s former partner allegedly sent messages to Delhi Capitals’ CEO Dheeraj Malhotra intending to tarnish Dhawan’s reputation and career.

The court as of now has taken action on the lawsuit and has retrained the player’s former wife from launching any defamatory remarks over the Indian opener.

In the statement issued by the court, Aesha was asked to prohibit talking about Dhawan in a defamatory matter to any known associate or relative as it may harm the latter’s career.

“Reputation of a person is dear to everyone and is considered as a property of the highest degree because materialistic property can be regained after loss but reputation cannot be regained once damaged. Therefore, it has got to be protected. However, it is equally true that if anyone has a lawful grievance against someone, he or she cannot be restrained from venting out his or her grievance to the concerned authority,”

“Therefore, in these circumstances, she is hereby restrained till further order from circulating any of her grievance against Dhawan or her version of the dispute involved herein or the alleged defamatory and false material against him, to social media, to print media, or to any other forum or to friends, relatives or colleagues of the parties.”

The ruling judge stated that while Aesha was entitled to list any grievances against her former husband, she should refrain from dishing them to the relatives or commenting in public about the said issue before consulting the informed authorities. 

Shikhar Dhawan and his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji separated back in 2021 after being married for 8 years, the duo shares a son named Zorawar who is currently living with his mother in Australia. The player on the other hand has been out of grace when it comes to the national side with a string of poor performances in his previous outings.
