PAK vs AUS: Daniel Vettori Appointed As Australia's Spin Consultant For Limited-Overs Series Against Pakistan
Former New Zealand cricketer Daniel Vettori will be joining the Australian men’s cricket team for the white-ball leg of their ongoing historic tour of Pakistan, Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed.
Australia will be playing three ODIs and a solitary T20I from March 29 to April 5. Vettori will be joining the squad in Melbourne this week before they depart for the series in Pakistan.
The 43-year-old bowling all-rounder has been the spin bowling coach of Bangladesh before for a period of two years (2019-2021). He also helped the Aussies in 2017 when they embarked on their tour of India.
Australia confirm unchanged playing XI for 3rd Test
Meanwhile, the Aussies have confirmed an unchanged playing XI for the third Test against Pakistan in Lahore. Skipper and pace attack spearhead, Pat Cummins, mentioned that the performance of his team in the 2nd Test was very good and everyone pulled their own weight.
“We were really happy with how all 11 players went the last Test. Everyone has pulled up really well. We gave them an extra couple of days to make sure everyone has come up good. But there’s no injury worries, everyone is freshened up so we’re confident in the XI,” Cummins said.
The surface for the third Test is expected to play similar to the first two where the bowlers struggled on lifeless pitches. However, that won’t change Australia’s approach in the decider.
“We feel like we’ve got all bases covered if needed, whether it’s reverse swing or swing later in the game. I think what’s been clear … is the way we’ve gone about it is the right way.
“I’ve been really happy with how everyone has gone about their work (and) the tactics. I think it’s just a matter of taking those chances,” he further said.
Australia’s playing XI for the third Test:
David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Swepson, Nathan Lyon.
