PAK vs AUS: In Terms Of Tactics, I Think Overall I Wouldn't Change Much - Pat Cummins After Draw vs Pakistan In 2nd Test

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins stated that he wouldn’t have captained the second Test in Karachi in a different way despite the Aussies failing to capitalize on a brilliant position.
After piling up 556 on the board, the Australians bundled Pakistan out for 148. Instead of enforcing the follow-on, they opted to bat once again and set a target of 506. The pitch was still good to bat on and the home team was led by twin centuries from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
In the end, they managed to seal a draw with three wickets remaining at the end. Speaking about the result, Cummins said there is nothing much he would have done differently.

“Coming over here in these conditions, at the start of the series if you had said it’s going to be nil-all after two games, we would probably take that. In terms of the tactics, I think overall I wouldn’t change too much, to be honest.”
“Batting into day three gave us that chance to really have a crack at them on day three – it probably went better than we expected. But over here the wickets are pretty good. We carved up two and a half days of the best time on the wicket hoping that it was going to break up on days four and five,” Cummins said after the 2nd Test.
“I was really proud and happy about how our team played” – Pat Cummins
After the first Test ended in a dull draw, the second was also heading towards a similar result. However, the Aussie bowlers infused life into the game with their stunning performance in the first innings.
“If we took a couple of those catches it might have been a different scenario. I thought we gave ourselves a really good opportunity in this Test match, especially after the first three innings of the game.”

“I was really proud and happy about how our team played. In foreign conditions, we are showing that we are adapting quite well. But, of course, getting so close and not coming out with a result can feel like it’s a missed opportunity,” Cummins added.
