Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has held the RCB chief Ramiz Raza accountable for the controversy surrounding the Rawalpindi pitch after the first Test between Australia and Pakistan. The pitch was rated below average for the way it played out across the five days.

Only 14 wickets fell in the first Test with the Australian bowlers picking up only 4. Following the end of the Test match, Butt has criticised Raja’s rotten mindset. During the same video, Butt also reacted to Ramiz Raja’s statement following the end of the Test where the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman had said that they cannot play to Australia’s strength by making fast, bouncy pitches.

“We don’t have to play to their strengths, we definitely don’t want to do that. The whole Pakistan would agree to it. But what is our strength? Please tell us that. If we go by his words, we don’t have any strength at all. We don’t have fast bowlers, spinners, batsmen don’t have confidence,” said Butt, on his official YouTube channel.

Ramiz Raja Should Know The State Of The Pitches In The Country: Salman Butt

Butt further said that the state of the Rawalpindi pitch is a massive dent to the reputation and respect of Pakistan cricket. He said Ramiz Raja should have be aware of the state of every pitch in the country having played international cricket at the highest level and being associated with Pakistan cricket for so long.

“More importantly, he is not a chartered accountant-chairman. He was a cricketer. If you ask me the characterstic of every stadium in Pakistan, I can readily tell you. And I’m sure he will tell you as well, it is not possible that he doesn’t know. If he doesn’t know, I don’t know who knows,” said Butt.

The second Test starts in Karachi on March 12 and how the pitch plays in that Test match will be closely monitored. The PCB should ideally look to prepare a sporting wicket after what transpired in Rawalpindi.
