PAK vs AUS: They Are Never Flustered - Pat Cummins Talks About Similarities Between Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Joe Root, Kane Williamson
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins spoke about the similarities between the big batters in world cricket – Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson, claiming that they are all very familiar with their playstyle and can accumulate runs quite quickly.
Ahead of Australia’s final Test against Pakistan, Cummins opened up on why the aforementioned batters are successful at the highest level. They are capable of capitalizing on the smallest of errors, leaving no room for error when it comes to the bowlers.
“All know their game incredibly well, They are never flustered, happy to bat long periods of time. If there is an opportunity, they get off the mark pretty quickly, start accumulating the runs really quickly. Unless you are right on the money from the first ball you feel like they are already into their innings,” Cummins said in the pre-match press conference.
Pat Cummins on comparison between Kohli and Babar
Following Babar’s consistent performances for Pakistan over the years, comparisons between him and Kohli began. Although Babar still has a long way to go in his career, there are obvious similarities between their batsmanship, as pointed out by Cummins.
“They are both really complete batters no matter what format you play, they present their challenges. They are both really high quality (players), both have scored centuries against Australia over the years,” Cummins added.
Heading into the final Test, Australia announced an unchanged playing XI from the second Test in Karachi. Josh Hazlewood continues to sit out while Mitchell Swepson and Nathan Lyon will be the spin twins for the game. Additionally, the surface is expected to behave similar to the first two Tests, as per Cummins.
