SL vs AUS: Wanindu Hasaranga To Remain With Sri Lankan Team, Unsure About Participation In 3rd ODI

Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga may miss out on the 3rd ODI against Australia as well since he hasn’t fully recovered from the groin muscle strain he sustained in the first ODI.
Hasaranga sat out of the 2nd ODI which the Lankans won and he could well be ruled out of the 3rd too. He is currently being assessed by the Lankan medical team, as updated by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
“The medical team is assessing his situation and will update the team management on a daily basis about the player’s condition. Hence, Hasaranga will continue to remain with the squad during the entirety of the ODI series,” SLC tweeted on their official account.

Hasaranga had excellent outings in the 3-match T20I series and carried over his form to the first ODI. He scored a 19-ball 37 with the bat in hand before coming back to pick up four wickets in Australia’s run chase.
Although Lanka failed to win the game, the bigger loss was Hasaranga’s injury. He is their X-factor and he will be sorely missed if he is unable to recover in time.

“Player Update: Wanindu Hasaranga, who suffered a groin muscle strain, while fielding during the 1st ODI is currently under the supervision of the Team’s Medical Team,” SLC had earlier tweeted.
