After winning the ODI series against Afghanistan, Bangladesh would be looking to produce a similar result in the upcoming series against South Africa. For those of you who don’t know, Bangladesh have not produced a single win in ODIs against South Africa in South Africa.

They would be hoping to break that losing streak this time around. The first ODI of the three-match series is scheduled to be held on 18^th March 2022. Here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the Bangladesh Cricket Team for the first ODI against South Africa.

Openers: Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das

Liton Das is the man in form. He is the one to watch out for. He did well against New Zealand and continued his good form against Afghanistan as well. A much more difficult test in South Africa awaits for him and it will be interesting to see how he fares with the bat. Skipper Tamim Iqbal is one of the best batsmen in the line-up. He too will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Middle-Order: Mushfiqur Rahim, Yasir Ali, and Mahmudullah

All of them played all three ODIs against Afghanistan and returned with disappointing numbers. Mushfiqur Rahim, though, played a match-winning knock of 86 runs in the second ODI but failed in the other two. Yasir Ali hasn’t had a great start to his international career. The trio ought to make valuable contributions in the middle-order to help Bangladesh post winning totals.

All-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Afif Hossain, and Mehidy Hasan

Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan had made himself unavailable for the South Africa tour. However, he changed his mind later and is likely to play all three ODIs. Shakib Al Hasan has been the saviour for Bangladesh on overseas tours for many years now. He is expected to do well in the ODI series. Besides, the likes of Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan are handy options with the ball and adds depth to this batting lineup.

Bowlers: Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman

In the pace department, they have got quality fast bowlers such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed. All three have done reasonably well in the recent past and you expect them to make the cut for the first ODI.
