The CPL 2021 final will have Saint Lucia Kings take on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park on Wednesday. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have had a great season, having managed 7 wins in 11 games.

They are coming into the contest on the back of a seven-wicket win against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the second semi-final.

The bowlers were pretty impressive and ensured that they didn’t allow the batsmen to score a big inning. Brandon King (27 off 17), Chandrapaul Hemraj (27 off 24), and Nicholas Pooran (26 off 14) all got starts but couldn’t go on to play a big knock, thanks to a collective bowling effort from the Patriots.

Shimron Hetmyer, however, played a fine 45-run knock later in the innings and propelled his side to a competitive 178-run total.

Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis gave their side a blistering start in the second innings. The duo took on the opposition right from the onset and hit boundaries at will.

The duo added 68 runs in the first six overs, giving just the start their team required. Gayle, unfortunately, got out in the 8th over after scoring 42 off just 27 balls, but Lewis continued his fireworks.

Dwayne’s Bravo’s promotion at number three bore fruits for them as he added 88 runs alongside Evin Lewis for the second wicket and thereby took the game away from the Warriors. Dwayne Bravo scored a decent 34-run knock-off 31 balls before getting out in the 16th over.

Guyana Amazon Warriors, however, had a little chance of making a comeback by then. Evin Lewis remained unbeaten at 77 off 39 balls as he helped the side chase down the total in just 17.5 overs.

Facing them are Saint Lucia Kings, who are coming off a 21-run win over Trinbago Knight Riders in the first semi-final. Mark Deyal gave his team a blistering start after they won the toss and decided to bat first. The Kings had lost Fletcher (4 off 14) and Cornwall (0 of 3) on low scores but Deyal, at the other end, wreaked havoc with the bat.

He hit 5 fours and 6 sixes en-route to his 78-run knock-off 44 balls and set the foundation for a mammoth score. Man in form, Roston Chase played yet another fine knock of 36 runs off 21 balls, while D Wiese (34 off 21) and Tim David (38 off 17) ensured the team of a great finish. Saint Lucia Kings notched a 205-run total at the end of the first innings.

Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a great start in the second innings, thanks to a 17-ball 30-run cameo from Sunil Narine. However, none of the players could go on to score a big knock required in the run chase. Colin Munro (28 off 23), Denesh Ramdin (29 off 26), Darren Bravo (25 off 16), and Pollard (26 off 13) all got out in the 20s.

Dawid Wiese and Wahab Riaz didn’t allow the batsmen to flourish as the duo picked seven wickets between them. Wiese went on to pick his second five-wicket haul this season of CPL 2021.

Alzarri Joseph too was brilliant for his spell of 1 for 24 in 4 overs. Trinbago Knight Riders, eventually, were restricted to 184 runs in the second innings, thus falling short of 21 runs in the end.
