Chepauk Super Gillies have been playing in the TNPL since the tournament's inaugural season in 2016. They are also the most successful team in the history of the competition with 4 titles.

In the first season of the TNPL, Super Gillies qualified for the final but suffered a heartbreaking loss against now-defunct Tuti Patriots. However, they made amends in the very next season by going all the way. In the final, they also beat defending champion Tuti Patriots to win their maiden TNPL title in style.

The Super Gillies had the opportunity to create history in 2018 by defending the title. However, they had a disappointing campaign as they finished at the bottom of the points table with just one win from seven games.

After the disappointing season in 2018, the Super Gillies bounced back in style in 2019. They went on to win the competition and became the first team to win it twice. They finished the league stage at the second spot in the points table. In the playoffs as well as the final, the Super Gillies beat Dindigul Dragons to win the tournament.

The TNPL was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, the Super Gillies won the tournament for a record-extending third time. The Chennai-based outfit beat Trichy Grand Cholas in the final to become the first team to win the competition three times.

In 2022, the Super Gillies along with Lyca Kovai Kings were adjudged joint winners after the final was washed out. In the following season, the Super Gillies failed to qualify for the playoffs. In 2024, they qualified for the playoffs but could not reach the final.
