ICC tournaments are considered very crucial tournaments in international cricket as all the powerful nations participate in them. Winning an ICC final means becoming a world champion. However, it takes a lot of effort to reach ICC finals as there is a close competition among the most powerful cricket-playing teams during ICC tournaments. Former Australian cricketer Gary Gilmour is one bowler who has picked a fifer in an ICC final. The left-arm pacer picked 5 wickets in the final of ODI World Cup 1975, which was the first edition of the tournament. The Aussie pacer picked 5 wickets for 48 runs during his 12 overs against West Indies.

West Indies scored 291-8 in 60 overs in the match with the help of a century by skipper Clive Lloyd (102). Gary Gilmour took a five-wicket haul by dismissing Alvin Kallicharran, Rohan Kanhai, Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, and Deryck Murray in the match. However, in spite of Gilmour’s brilliant bowling, Australia lost the match by 17 runs. With a fifty by Ian Chappell (62), Australia were bowled out of 274 in 58.4 overs.

Former West Indies cricketer Joel Garner is another bowler to pick a fifer in an ICC final. The right-arm pacer picked a five-wicket haul during ODI World Cup 1979 final against England. The West Indies pacer Joel Garner scalped 5 wickets for 38 runs during his 11 overs in the match.

Batting first, West Indies smashed 286-9 in 60 overs with a spectacular unbeaten century by Viv Richards (138*). Collis Kings also played a crucial knock of 86 runs for the West Indies. England remained far away from victory after getting bowled out for 194 in 51 overs. Joel Garner dismissed England’s Graham Gooch, David Gower, Wayne Larkins, Chris Old, and Bob Taylor. He played a prominent role in West Indies’ victory in the match. West Indies won the match by 92 runs.

Former South African cricketer Jacques Kallis is another player to pick a fifer in an ICC final. The South African all-rounder bagged the feat during ICC Champions Trophy 1998 final against West Indies. The right-arm pacer Kallis took 5 wickets for 30 runs during his 7.3 overs in the match.

West Indies batted first in the match and were bowled out for 245 in 49.3 overs. Opener Philo Wallace played a fabulous knock of 103 runs while Carl Hooper scored important 49 runs. Kallis dismissed Carl Hooper, Keith Arthurton, Phil Simmons, Rawl Lewis, and Reon King while bowling.

Later, South Africa chased the target in 47 overs and won the match by 4 wickets. For South Africa, Hansie Cronje played an unbeaten knock of 61 runs. Jacques Kallis was awarded player of the match for his outstanding bowling.

New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson has become the only 4th bowler to pick a fifer in an ICC final. The right-arm pacer picked a five-wicket haul in ongoing India vs New Zealand final of ICC World Test Championship. Jamieson scalped 5 wickets during India’s first innings, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. He bowled 22 overs and conceded 31 runs.

Jamieson’s 5-wicket haul restricted India to just 217 in the first innings. So far in the match, New Zealand has scored 101-2 in the 1st innings and trails by 116 runs. The match at The Rose Bowl cricket stadium in Southampton, England has been severely affected by rain. Even after the end of the 4th Day, the 1st innings has still not concluded.
