5 Players Who Deserve ICC Player Of The Year Award.  The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new program that would see them honor the ‘Player of the Month’ across both male and female cricketers. Fans would also have the opportunity to cast their votes but the majority of the votes will be cast by the ICC Voting Academy, consisting of former players, broadcasters, and journalists from around the world.

The likes of Keegan Petersen (South Africa, January 2022), Shreyas Iyer (India, February 2022), Babar Azam (Pakistan, March 2022), Keshav Maharaj (South Africa, April 2022), Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka, May 2022), Jonny Bairstow (England, June 2022),  Prabath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka, July 2022),  Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe, August 2022),  Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan, September 2022), Virat Kohli (India, October 2022) and Jos Buttler (England, November 2022) have been awarded ‘Player of the Month’  in this year.

The ICC Awards are an annual set of sports awards for international cricket, which recognize and honor the best international cricket players of the previous 12 months. The awards were introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2004. Between 2009 and 2014 the awards were known, for sponsorship reasons, as the LG ICC Awards.

Virat Kohli has been at his prolific best this calendar year and scored 781 runs in 20 T20Is at a strike rate of 138.23, which includes his maiden T20I century. The 34-year-old has held the innings together and allowed other stroke makers to play with freedom and deserves the ICC Player of the Year Award.

The Indian batting maestro was at his vintage best at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia as he top-scored with 296 runs in six games at a strike rate of 136.40. In India’s T20 World Cup 2022 opener against arch-rivals Pakistan, Virat Kohli played an innings of a lifetime, scoring 82* runs in 53 deliveries to take his team across the line.

He accumulated 276 runs in 5 T20Is at an average of 92, including his first T20I ton (122*) against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022. He scored 296 runs in 6 T20Is, averaged 98.67, and was the top run-getter in the T20 World Cup in 2022. He deserves the ICC Player of the Year Award 2022. He had also scored 302 runs in 11 ODIs averaging 27.45 and 240 runs in 5 Tests averaging 30.

Suryakumar Yadav deserves the ICC Player of the Year 2022 Award. He has amassed 1164 runs in 31 T20Is in 2022 averaging 46.56 and 260 runs in 13 ODIs averaging 26. The 32-year-old Suryakumar Yadav is the highest-run getter in T20Is in this calendar year, having smashed 1164 runs in 31 games at a stunning strike rate of 187.43, including two blistering centuries.

Mohammad Rizwan

The 30-year-old Pakistan keeper Mohammad Rizwan has been phenomenal with the bat throughout the year 2022 and accumulated 996 runs in 25 T20Is at a strike rate of 122.96 and an average of 45.27, which includes 10 half-centuries. He has steadied the ship when his team has been in trouble and shepherded the innings beautifully.

Mohammad Rizwan was at his best in Asia Cup 2022 and scored 281 runs in six games at an average of 56.20. His batting exploits were instrumental in Pakistan reaching the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 tournament. Mohammad Rizwan certainly deserves the ICC Player of the Year Award 2022. He also amassed 201 runs in 8 ODIs in 2022 averaging 33.5 and 401 runs in 8 Tests averaging 30.85.

Jos Buttler led England to T20 World Cup 2022 win. The England limited-overs skipper had scored 462 runs in 15 T20Is averaging 35.54. This includes 4 fifties including an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls in the T20 WC semis against India. His strike rate was also phenomenal-160.42.

Jos Buttler had also scored 403 runs averaging 57.57 in 11 ODIs in 2022 including his career best of 162* against the Netherlands. Jos Buttler certainly deserves the ICC Player of the Year Award 2022.

Australia’s batter Travis Head had an outside chance to win the ICC Player of the Year Award 2022. In Tests, he scored 604 runs in 9 matches in 2022 averaging 50.33 which saw 2 tons including his career-best score of 175 against West Indies. In 2022, he featured in nine ODI matches and accumulated 550 runs at a strike rate of 112.24 and an average of 68.75.
