Former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad lashed out at the selectors for excluding Kamran Ghulam from the squad for the first Test match against England.
Ahmed Shehzad questioned the decision to exclude Kamran Ghulam and Sahibzada Farhan, asking what they had done to be dropped.
Pakistan will host the three-match Test series against England, with the first Test scheduled to be played in Multan on October 7.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming series. Shan Masood will continue to lead despite the humiliating 0-2 loss to Bangladesh.
Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali were both excluded from the squad for the upcoming Test series against England.
They were part of the recent home series against Bangladesh. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that they still consider both players as part of their plans in Test cricket.
Kamran Ghulam Has Been Ignored - Ahmed Shehzad
Ahmed Shehzad criticized selector Mohammad Yousuf for excluding Kamran Ghulam and Sahibzada Farhan from the squad.
In a video posted on his X account, Shehzad pointed out that Ghulam and Farhan's exclusion might be because they bat in the same position as Babar Azam.
Ahmed Shehzad emphasized that Yousuf had previously relied heavily on a few players during his coaching tenure and called for clarity on the decision to leave out Ghulam.
"Kamran Ghulam has been ignored as Mohammad Yousuf didn’t make him a part of the 15-member squad. Khurram Shahzad is injured, while Aamer Jamal and Shaheen Shah Afridi aren’t fully fit," Ahmed Shehzad said.
"Despite that, you did not pick Mohammad Ali. It’s hard to understand. How will you justify not picking Kamran and Sahibzada Farhan in the squad? What sin did they commit? Is it because they bat in the same position where Babar bats?"
"When Yousuf was the coach, he left everything on two to three players. Yousuf is the selector and this is the team he is selecting. Give me one logic why Kamran Ghulam was left out?" he added.

Kamran Ghulam has been performing well in the Champions One Day Cup. The 28-year-old batter has amassed 248 runs with an average of 49.60 and a strike rate of 100 across five matches.
Ghulam has played one match for Pakistan in ODIs but has yet to play in a Test match for the national team.
On the other hand, Babar Azam is facing criticism due to a series of lackluster performances in Test cricket. He managed to score only 64 runs over four innings against Bangladesh.
Notably, he has not reached the 50-run mark in his last 16 Test innings, with his last fifty coming in December 2022.
The last Test series between England and Pakistan was in December 2022, where England achieved a 3-0 whitewash.
England recently won a home series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka. The first two Tests of the upcoming series will take place in Multan, while the final Test will be held in Rawalpindi.
