Ahmed Shehzad in awe of Rohit Sharma's captaincy, labels India as favorites to win T20 World Cup 2024

India take on England in the second semi-final in Guyana on Thursday. Both teams are looking to make it to the final. However, former Pakistan cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad has favored India to make it to the final. 

Speaking at a talk show for Geo News, Ahmed Shehzad pointed out what makes India's favorites to win this T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue have been on an unbeaten run in the lead-up to the semi-final. 

They will now take on England who have lost games in the league stage and even in the Super 8s. He said that India have adjusted to the conditions brilliantly in the Caribbean. He mentioned how India roped in Kuldeep Yadav into the XI a started playing matches in the Super 8s. 

He further hailed skipper Rohit Sharma as a brave leader and for his astute captaincy. "You know how good Rohit is as captaincy by looking at his captaincy. When India came back from the USA playing in seaming conditions, they brought Kuldeep Yadav into the playing XI in dry and spinning conditions in the Caribbean".

He further lauded the India team saying that they have players to play in every condition and is a team that looks very prepared for this T20 World Cup. He praised Rohit for the way he spoke about the team's preparations in post-match interactions.

"Rohit in his post-match interaction with Harsha Bhogle said that we are not under any pressure. We just make sure that we do our process and control what is in our control and try to execute our plan well". 

He further pointed out that India and Rohit Sharma do not think ahead of the game but look very prepared and ready before the game. 

He said that India looks like the best team at the moment to win the World Cup. However, he favoured Afghanistan to win the World Cup who are now out of the tournament after losing the semi-final to South Africa. 

Meanwhile, there is a forecast of rain for the India vs England semi-final. If the match ends in a washout India will qualify for the final by virtue of finishing higher on the points table on the Super 8s. There is no reserve day for the match and the match can be extended upto 250 minutes before we start losing overs. 

India lost to England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup semi-final and was knocked out of the tournament. This time around, they are unbeaten and face England again in the semi-finals. In the presser, he said that India will have no particular advantage of knowing where they will be playing in the semi-final. He further said that it is ICC's headache to ensure that India reaches the venue on time with all the concerns regarding rain playing spoilsport.
