Right-arm fast bowler Akash Deep delivered a standout performance in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match between India A and India B in Bengaluru.

Akash Deep has strengthened his case for selection in India's Test squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home.

The Bengal pacer put India A in a strong position to win on the final day of the first-round Duleep Trophy match.

The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led team started the final day at 140/4. India A, led by Shubman Gill, needs 275 runs to secure the victory on Sunday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Akash Deep Has Represented Team India In One Test Match vs England

The 27-year-old pacer has played one Test match against England in Ranchi earlier this year. Akash took three wickets for 83 runs in his debut.

He has a great chance to be included in the XI again with Jasprit Bumrah on an extended break and Mohammed Shami nearing recovery from an injury.

Akash made a strong impression in his second first-class match after relocating from Bihar to Kolkata. He took six wickets against Gujarat and ended the season with 35 wickets. He earned a contract with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season.

India will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. The series will start with the first Test on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second Test will be held at Green Park in Kanpur from September 27.
