Mumbai Indians (MI) is one of the most successful teams in the IPL with five trophies to its name. In this article, we will look at all the IPL Captains of MI.

Sachin Tendulkar (2008-2011)
Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar was the first captain of the Mumbai Indians in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. Tedulkar led MI in four editions of the IPL from 2008-2011 and had an impressive record.
Tendulkar led Mumbai Indians in 51 matches and won 58% of those games, which translates to 31 wins and 21 losses.
Shaun Pollock (2008)
Former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock also led Mumbai Indians India in four matches in 2008 and ended up winning three games.
Harbhajan Singh (2008-2012)
It wasn't only Tendulkar and Pollock who led MI in 2008; Harbhajan also led the team for the first time that year and on different occasions till 2012, and possessed a 50% win record with 10 wins from 20 games.
Dwayne Bravo (2010)
West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo captained MI once during the 2010 IPL season, where MI ended up on the losing side.
Ricky Ponting (2013)
Australia's World Cup-winning captain, Ricky Ponting, was handed over the reins of MI in 2013, but Ponting stepped down after a disappointing start to the season, and Rohit Sharma was handed over the captaincy.
Rohit Sharma (2013-2023)
The decision to appoint Rohit Sharma as MI's captain was met with a lot of uncertainty, and one of the questions was will he would be able to handle names like Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.
Rohit repaid the faith of the management by guiding the team to five IPL trophies in the next eight seasons before stepping down.
Kieron Pollard (2014-2021)
Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard was appointed the deputy of Rohit and led the team in his absence on various occasions from 2014 to 2021.
Hardik Pandeya (2024-2025)
India's fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya's inclusion in the squad before IPL 2024 was full of drama as the news of him coming back to MI was confirmed minutes before the retention window closed.
To add to the uncertainty, Hardik was also handed over the captaincy, a decision which was not taken well by the fans, as Hardik faced heavy criticism on the field of play
Having said things were a lot different in 2025 with Hardik playing a vital role in helping India win the T20 World Cup, which transpired into him getting support from the same fans who trolled him a year ago.
Suryakumar Yadav (2023-2025)
India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was the captain of the team in their opening encounter of IPL 2025 against the Chennai Super Kings, which the team lost. Surya has led MI in a couple of games so far and has one win under his belt.
