Australian Cricket Team would be ecstatic after snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in the 1st Test match against England. England skipper Brendon McCullum backed the team’s game plan despite not being able to win key moments of the match. Brendon McCullum made it clear that the side can’t win every match.

England would be shell-shocked with their performance as it won’t be wrong to say that the tactics of Ben Stokes were somewhat questionable given the fact that tail-enders were at the crease.

Australia displayed a never to say die attitude throughout the match which proved to be the difference in the end. Every player contributed with the bat as chasing 281 was quite tough given England’s bowling lineup.

We don’t worry too much about the opposition – Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum was having an interaction with the reporters and gave the credit to Australia for their fighting spirit and said that England will get a little harder which would make the contest really entertaining. Brendon McCullum was quite proud f the unit despite losing the match.

“We don’t worry too much about the opposition. I had a bit of an inkling they might try and put some sweepers out, and it’s hard to argue because they won the Test match, right? I’m sure they’ll stick solid to that strategy, which I think is great because we’ll go a little harder and I think it makes for a really entertaining next few Test matches,” he stated.

“Obviously you’d rather have won the game. But the way that we played, I think it validated our style of play. If we’d have got a little bit of the rub of the green then we might have been on the other side of it. I’m really proud of the boys to be honest,” he added.

A couple of things didn’t quite go our way at times Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum said that a couple of things didn’t go their way and said that’s part and parcel of the game. Brendon McCullum made it clear that the side won’t change their fearless brand of cricket with one defeat.

“I thought their application to how we want to play right throughout was superb. A couple of things didn’t quite go our way at times… that’s the nature of the game, but we firmly believe, the skipper and I, that this gives us our greatest chance,” said Brendon McCullum.

“I would be very surprised if there were too many people who disagree with how we go about playing because everyone was left entertained. You’re not always going to win and we understand that. We want to keep getting up and throwing punches as a team, and I’m really proud of the way the guys played,” he added.
