Ashes 2023: "I Don't Class That As A Real Ashes" - Stuart Broad Makes A Stunning Remark On The Last Ashes Series Loss In Australia

The veteran England pacer Stuart Broad feels that the Ashes 2021 series wasn’t a real contest due to COVID restrictions. Stuart Broad said that the Ashes series was an elite sport and that the England player wasn’t able to train and travel properly due to the restrictions.
England suffered an embarrassing defeat against Australia in the Ashes series 2021–22, losing the series by a 4-0 margin in a five-match Test series. England avoided a whitewash as they managed to draw the Test match in Sydney. The Ben Stokes-led team will host the upcoming Ashes series at home in July.

I’ve Written It Off As A Void Series – Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad spoke about his experience in the previous Ashes series and termed the tour a void series. The right-arm pacer believes that Ashes cricket is an elite sport with players performing at the top of their game.
“Nothing was harsher than the last Ashes series. But in my mind, I don’t class that as a real Ashes. The definition of Ashes cricket is an elite sport with lots of passion and players at the top of their game,” Stuart Broad told the Daily Mail.
“Nothing about that series was high-level performance because of the Covid restrictions. The training facilities, the travel, not being able to socialise. I’ve written it off as a void series,” he added.

I’d Love Smith To Dance Down The Track – Stuart Broad
The 36-year-old believes that if the Australian team tries to play like “BazBall”, it could backfire on them. The England Test team adopted a new style in red-ball cricket under the coachship of Brendon McCullum, known as BazBall. The Three Lions have achieved success at home and abroad with aggressive cricket.
“It would be great for us if Australia try to take us on at our own game. If we can get them playing in a slightly different style they could make mistakes and that would be brilliant for us,” he added.
“Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja are all guys who like to bat time and accumulate. So if we can nibble away at them and just get them thinking, ‘Why are we not scoring quicker? Why are we not moving the game forward? I’d love Smith to dance down the track and sky one to mid-off early doors. That would be classic,” he concluded.
England will host the most anticipated five-match Ashes series, with the first Test scheduled to begin on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The second test will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground, the third at Headingley in Leeds, the fourth at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, and the final match at Kennington Oval in London.
