England suffered a heart-wrenching defeat in the opening Test match against Australia. Joe Root was the pick of the batters as he amassed 164 runs which included a ton. Joe Root‘s attacking approach came in as a surprise for the visitors.

England will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the 2nd Test match at Lord’s. England will have to manage the workload of Stuart Broad & James Anderson smartly. We should not forget that the English team hasn’t won the Ashes series since 2015.

Undoubtedly, Usman Khawaja would have silenced all the outside noise. The elegant left-handed batter frustrated the bowlers with his sheer defence. Khawaja though needs support from his fellow batter David Warner.

Joe Root’s playing a different style of cricket – Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg was seen speaking on his YouTube channel and spoke about Joe Root’s innovative brand of cricket. Brad Hogg pointed out that Bazball has changed the face of a wicket. Brad Hogg said that Joe Root was a bit too much aggressive in his approach.

“He’s playing a different style of cricket. The Bazball has come out we’re seeing reverse-sweeps which we’ve never seen in Test cricket before against fast bowling. That’s just sensational it’s never been heard of before,” said Brad Hogg.

“But with the Bazball in the second innings, I just thought he was over-aggressive. The shot that he got out to Nathan Lyon was a slog. It was not a cricket shot and if he is playing T20 cricket, I would have been disappointed as the coach with that type of shot,” he added.

Usman Khawaja was prepared to wear the opposition bowling attack down – Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg heaped praise on Usman Khawaja and stated that his knock in both innings was the reason behind Australia’s triumph. Brad Hogg said that Usman Khawaja needs to rotate the strike and if he doesn’t then there is added pressure on the non-striker.

“Usman Khawaja, very stodgy, batted for long periods of time. He was prepared to wear the opposition bowling attack down. He wasn’t looking to go after the bowling and up the run rate. It was his batting that got Australia over the line,” said Brad Hogg.

“But the thing with Usman is when he is in that defensive mode, and the batsman at the other end is trying to be aggressive…He takes up too many balls and is not rotating strike enough. It just sometimes puts a little bit of pressure on his partner at the other end. That’s something he’s got to look at,” he added.
