Former Australian pacer Michael Kasprowicz wants the Pat Cummins-led side to apply short-ball tactics against England. Michael Kasprowicz pointed out that the bowlers weren’t bowling maiden overs is key in Test cricket.

England cricket team are trailing by 138 runs in the 2nd Test match at the iconic Lord’s. The pitch is expected to deteriorate on Day 3, the hosts will have to be a bit cautious in the morning session.

I want to see more bouncers, and test the batsmen out – Michael Kasprowicz

Michael Kasprowicz was having an interaction with SEN’s The Captain’s Run and said that the Aussie bowlers need to bowl more bouncers. Michael Kasprowicz pointed out that the bowlers need to bowl consecutive maidens in the Test format.

“It’s part of your armoury as a fast bowler just to mess the batsman’s feet up. I want to see more bouncers, test the batsmen out. Just get them thinking about that short ball,” said Michael Kasprowicz.

“There was only five maidens by the Australian bowlers. Sure, that’s a product of the way that the (English) batsmen are playing, but what you have to do in Test cricket is (bowl) consecutive maidens,” he added.

I am worried about our bowlers- Ian Healy

Ian Healy said that the opening duo of Ben Duckett & Zak Crawley were looking ominous. Ian Healy gave credit to Nathan Lyon & Pat Cummins for taking early wickets. Ian Healy made it clear that Australia needs wickets on Day 3 to make a comeback in the match.

“That opening pair were very difficult to dislodge. I’m worried about our bowlers. We’ve got three bowlers going at six an over. If it wasn’t for Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, we’d be nowhere. They shared the wickets around eventually,” said Ian Healy.

“Australia will work incredibly hard in the first session to keep it tight and produce enough sideways movement to get some wickets,” he added.
