Australia needs another 174 runs on Day 5 to take a 1-0 lead in the Ashes series. During the run chase of 281 runs, the destructive left-handed batter David Warner played a feisty knock of 36 runs in 57 balls. David Warner looked like a completely different batter.

Aussies though would be eyeing quick runs as there are chances that the rain can play spoilsport. Once again, the onus will be on Usman Khawaja as the batter has frustrated the bowlers with not only his sheer defence but by rotating the strike on a consistent basis.

The wicket probably is on the lower side – David Warner

David Warner was having an interaction with the SEN Cricket and stated that the side needs to play their natural game and the side can’t go into the shell. David Warner pointed out that the batters need to be patient and respect every delivery and then look to score.

“There’s going to be a bit of weather around but we can’t control that. For us it’s about going out there and playing the way that you play. You can’t go into your shell. The positive thing is the wicket isn’t going up and down as much as you’d think from a deteriorating wicket, probably on the lower side,” said David Warner.

“If we keep being patient and we keep looking to score, we’ll go a long way in this game. If it rains and rains heavily, I think it will burn off and that’s what the predictions are. You’ve got to just keep that out of your mind and play as the ball comes at you, respect each delivery and then look to score,” he stated.
