Asia Cup 2023: 'Babar Still Has A...': Harbhajan Singh Opens Up On Virat Kohli-Babar Azam Comparison

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has weighed in on the much-talked-about comparison between Virat Kohli and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Kohli was already one of the global superstars of the game when Babar made his debut in international cricket in 2015. It did not take long for the Pakistan star to prove himself in international cricket. And as soon as he started churning out runs consistently for his national team, the comparisons began.

The comparisons have only increased in recent times as Babar has established himself as one of the best batsmen in the world while Kohli continues to be among the elites. The Kohli-Babar comparison is one of the most talked about topics in the game over the last few years. Time and again, fans and experts have commented on the comparison. And Harbhajan has now joined the bandwagon too.

Harbhajan Singh on Virat Kohli-Babar Azam comparison:

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh opened up on the comparison and said that Babar is still not on the same level as Kohli. The spin great opined that, unlike Babar, Kohli has already proved himself across all the formats and has established himself as one of the greats.

“Virat Kohli has established himself as a great, while Babar still has a lot to do. He will reach there someday, as he is a wonderful player. He is very good in Test cricket, but maybe T20 doesn’t suit him a lot,” said Harbhajan.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar was accompanying Harbhajan in the video and said: “Virat Kohli is the greatest, and Babar Azam is in the making to be the greatest batsman ever. He is trying to get better in T20s. People are behind him for no reason.”

Talking about Kohli’s career so far, the former India skipper made his debut in 2008 just a few weeks after leading India to glory in the U-19 World Cup. As of now, he has scored more than 25000 international runs with the help of 75 tons. Babar, on the other hand, has scored more than 12000 runs with the help of 30 international centuries.
