Former Pakistani skipper Moin Khan has made a bold statement amid the Asia Cup 2023. He said that the Cricket Board of both nations should resolve the issue but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shouldn’t allow the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to dictate terms based on financial superiority as it’ll be against the spirit of the cricket.
Even before the Asia Cup 2023 has started, the tournament is already hogging the headlines. There has been a lot of fuss about where the event will be played. The six-team tournament is originally scheduled to take in Pakistan. But due to security reasons, BCCI has objected to it and has said that they won’t travel to Pakistan.

PCB also confirmed that they are in talks with the BCCI and the hybrid mode for the tournament is in discussions. However, they also confirmed that reports suggesting that Pakistan won’t travel to India for World Cup are also baseless.

Amid all the talks, former Pakistani cricket Moin Khan said that both boards should resolve the issue and there shouldn’t be any diplomacy between the two countries. He added that if India doesn’t come to play in Pakistan then Men in Green should also not go for the World Cup. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, he said:
“Cricket should happen and the two boards should try to find a solution. There should be a discussion as to why India doesn’t want to come to Pakistan. There should be cricket diplomacy between the two countries.
“If India does not come to here to play the Asia Cup, then Pakistan should not go either for the World Cup. I think Pakistan Cricket Board should oppose this. If India plays the Asia Cup at a neutral venue, Pakistan’s matches should also be held at a neutral venue.”

Asia Cup 2023: Moin Khan has a say amid all the controversies
Asia Cup 2023: Moin Khan further went on to say that PCB shouldn’t allow BCCI to dictate terms because of its financial superiority. He further elaborated:
“Game of cricket shouldn’t be affected. Agar aap paise kee dhons pe kaam karenge to kabhi sort out nahi hoga (If you work on the basis of financial superiority, then there won’t be a solution).
“Every cricket playing nation has its own stature as they’ve played cricket competitively and should continue to do so. There shouldn’t be any bias on the basis of a board’s financial status. This is against the ‘spirit of cricket.”
Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in September. The tournament will see six teams clashing with each other in 13 matches. Six teams have been divided into two groups with three teams each. India and Pakistan are placed in group A along with a qualifier whereas Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are placed in group B.
