Mitchell Marsh scored a scintillating century in Headingley to come back into Test cricket. He played the Headingley and the Manchester Testa and contributed to the team’s cause with the bat. March has scored 228 runs in two Test matches at an average of 76.00.

Heading into the fifth and final test in, Marsh is going to be a key figure in the Australian batting lineup feels former Australian cricketer Tom Moody. March scored 51 in the first innings and remained unbeaten on 31 off 107 balls in the second innings to save Australia from losing the game. Moody feels with the kind of form Marsh is in, he can influence the final Test match at The Oval.

Tom Moody Picks Mitchell Marsh Ahead Of Cameron Green For Fifth Test

“Mitchell Marsh is the one that looks like he can influence the game, which he’s already done since he’s returned with confidence. There’s no question Cameron Green has got remarkable upside, but the here-and-now selection is Marsh. If anything, it’s probably something that might do Green the world of good,” said Moody to ESPN Cricinfo.

He further spoke about Todd Murphy and said that he should play the final Test in the absence of Nathan Lyon. Australia selected an all-pace attack for the Manchester Test sidelining Murphy.

“Murphy is an exciting young bowler. He is not Nathan Lyon, but Nathan Lyon is not Shane Warne either. Murphy needs to create his own path and have his own journey; he has started that already and he has started pretty successfully. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t come into the side just to create that balance, but also give the team better combinations,” Moody added.

Australia retained the Ashes Urn after the Manchester Test ended in a draw. Australia had won at Edgbaston and Lord’s but succumbed to a narrow three-wicket loss against England at Headingley in Leeds. The series is poised at 2-1 and can end in a draw if England can with the fifth Test. Australia will be eyeing a 3-1 series victory.
